A few people I know posted this trailer on Facebook today and I'm blown away.
I'm way interested in Bolivian history and culture and Bolivia tends to fly under the radar when it comes to mainstream media. Yeah, it's made some news with the exile of the previous president and election of their current president Evo (he even appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). While protests and rebellion in Egypt and Libya (not to mention France and Greece not that long ago) have received much attention, and well they should, similar events in Bolivia go almost unnoticed. In July 2007 two million people marched to protest the possibility of moving the administrative capital from La Paz to Sucre. 2 MILLION people! 2003 saw the Gas Wars, of which the only thing people seemed to have heard about was the resignation of President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada who then fled the country. In 2000, Cochabamba was home to the Water Wars which is the subject of this pretty intense looking film. I'm really looking forward to checking it out.
